Optimum styling temperature of 185 degrees
One of our biggest fundamentals is keeping our hair straighteners operating at an optimal styling temperature to prevent excess heat damage. If you've got a styler that boasts a maximum temperature of higher than 200 degrees, throw it out. ghd's all operate at 185 degrees, which has been proven to be the optimum temperature for healthy hair and long-lasting styles.
What's so special about 185 degrees? Well, anything higher than 190 degrees will cause internal damage to your hair and lead to irreversible effects, which you'll need to wait to grow out on its own. Anything cooler than 160 degrees can damage the external layer of your hair's cuticle, which will stop the hair from keeping a hold of the style. 185 degrees is the sweet spot between these two extremes.
Safety features like automatic shut-off
Most of our straighteners have an automatic shut-off function, which can protect your home, belongings, or even yourself from burns. After a certain period of inactivity, our stylers will turn it off so you can rest assured that your straighteners are safely cooling down, even if you forget to turn them off.
