Ponytails are just for the gym right? Wrong! Perfecting the messy pony is an art; one we’re going to show you how to master! A great day to night look, the Wavy Ponytail is perfect for heading for festive drinks straight from the office.

Textured locks don’t just happen; you need to prep, prep, prep! Spritzing your hair with ghd root lift spraywill give you the perfect base to finger-comb your hair back into an imperfect pony. Leaving a few sections loose at the front will frame the face and add to the messy look, whilst using the ghd curve® soft curl tong to wave the lengths will add volume and shape to the lengths.

PREP HAIR WITH GHD ROOT LIFT SPRAY

Apply ghd root lift spray throughout the hair

DRY PRODUCT INTO THE HAIR

Using the ghd air® hair dryer, dry the product into the hair, adding volume in at the root by lifting the hair up and away from the face

PULL HAIR INTO A PONY

Pull the hair into a messy pony tail, leaving some hair loose around the face

SECURE PONY AT THE BACK OF THE HEAD AND TEASE THE CROWN

Secure the ponytail into place in the middle of the back of the head. Then pinch sections of hair at the crown to tease out and soften the look

PLACE THE TONG ON A SECTION OF HAIR

Taking a 1inch section of hair from the ponytail, place the ghd curve® soft curl tong horizontally

WRAP THE HAIR AROUND THE BARREL AND ROCK UP AND DOWN

Wrap hair around the barrel of the tong, and rock up and down for 5 seconds until a wave is formed

CONTINUE TECHNIQUE THROUGHOUT THE PONYTAIL

Continue this technique until all of the ponytail is waved in this way

DRESS OUT WITH FINGERS

Dress out hair with fingers and pull the ponytail wider in different directions to add to the messy look

FINISH BY HIDING THE ELASTIC WITH A PIECE OF BLACK LEATHER

Take a piece of black leather or ribbon and wrap around the base of the pony, hiding the elastic and securing with a black grip
