1. Prep hair with root lift spray

2. Crimp all hair

3. Lightly brush hair

4. Take section on parting, 1 inch either side

5. Take small section at front split in 3

6. Pass inner strand of hair over middle strand

7. Pass outer strand of hair over the middle strand

8. On second pass, add extra hair into inner and outer strands

9. Continue steps 9, 10 and 11 to the crown

10. Pull on the braid to add volume

11. Section hair ear to ear

12. Point curling tong above hair

13. Twist wrap hair away from face

14. Repeat step 13

15. Move to other side of head and repeat

16. Repeat step 15

17. Smooth waves with paddle brush

STEP BY STEPS

STEP 1

PREP HAIR WITH ROOT LIFT PRODUCT

For the perfect base to braid from, prep the hair with ghd root lift spray.

STEP 2

CRIMP ALL HAIR

Working in sections, crimp the whole head from root to tip using the ghd contour®.

TIP: Crimping the hair first will add extra volume to finer hair.

STEP 3

LIGHTLY BRUSH HAIR

Brush the hair lightly with a ghd paddle brush to soften the crimped texture.

STEP 4

TAKE SECTION ON PARTING, 1 INCH EITHER SIDE

Take a section of hair along the parting, approximately an inch on either side.

STEP 5

TAKE SMALL SECTION AT FRONT SPLIT IN 3

To create a French braid for your unicorn plait, start with a small section at the front and split into three.

STEP 6

PASS INNER STRAND OF HAIR OVER MIDDLE STRAND

Take the inner strand of hair and pass it over the middle strand.

STEP 7

PASS OUTER STRAND OF HAIR OVER THE MIDDLE STRAND

Then take the outer strand and pass it over the middle strand.

STEP 8

ON SECOND PASS, ADD EXTRA HAIR INTO INNER AND OUTER STRANDS

On the second pass, start to add a small amount of hair and then pass over the middle strand.

STEP 9

CONTINUE STEPS 9, 10 AND 11 TO THE CROWN

Continue this technique until you reach the crown, continually adding hair and passing over each time. Tie with a clear elastic.

STEP 10

PULL ON THE BRAID TO ADD VOLUME

To add volume to your unicorn, gently pull the braid.

STEP 11

SECTION HAIR EAR TO EAR

Take a section from ear to ear at the bottom of the head.

STEP 12

POINT CURLING TONG ABOVE HAIR

Take the ghd curve ® classic curl tong, and place above your hair facing downwards.

STEP 13

TWIST WRAP HAIR AWAY FROM FACE

Directed away from the face, twist wrap the hair around the barrel of the tong and hold for 5-8 seconds.

STEP 14

REPEAT STEP 13

Continue using the same technique to the back of the head, ensuring the barrel is above the hair and curling away from the face.

STEP 15

MOVE TO OTHER SIDE OF HEAD AND REPEAT

On the opposite side of the head, starting again from the front, twist wrap and curl the hair away from the face.

STEP 16

REPEAT STEP 15

Continue same technique throughout the hair, always with the barrel above the hair and curling away from the face.

STEP 17

SMOOTH WAVES WITH BRUSH

Brush hair with a ghd paddle brush to smooth the waves.
